Sweater Weather

It’s finally that time of year again when Fashionistas put together their perfect fall looks. Plaid, comfy sweaters and cute boots are the perfect combination for a crisp, cool autumn day. This Fashionista put together all of the elements of fall fashion into this unique look.

To make a sweater interesting, try finding one in a kimono style. It’s a perfect piece that is comfy yet distinct. This style has an aztec print for detail and is made with a super warm fabric. For extra warmth, you can wear a cozy solid sweater underneath. This Fashionista wore a gray waffle sweater for warmth and to contrast the kimono. For this particular ensemble, any jeans or leggings will make it super trendy. Finally, to finish off the outfit, a pair of your cutest fall booties. What makes this style so great is that you can wear this look with almost any style of boots. This Fashionista chose tall black leather boots to contrast the grey of the sweater. Since she wasn’t headed for class, she chose a small cross-body bag to carry around some cash. However, this outfit would look perfect with a large tote of any kind to throw some books in!

This look is so versatile it can be worn to class, brunch and even apple picking! Depending on the event, you can dress it up with high heel boots and accessories, or dress it down with little booties. If the weather outside is colder then anticipated, grab a snug beanie hat to make this look warm and trendy! Regardless of where your headed, this outfit the epitome of fall fashion!

Classy For Class

This post was originally published for Collegefashionista.com . All photos and styling were done by me.

It is now the time of year when class is fully in session. In my opinion, what students decide to wear to class varies. Some decide to just throw on whatever it is they deem comfortable and easy. Others ponder what they can piece together in order to fit the latest trends.

One of the many trends for back to school is wearing men-style polos and making it girly. This shirt is a reimagined version of a men’s polo from Brandy Melville that can be tied in different ways. It is perfect to wear to class because it is made of cotton, so it’s super comfortable and breathable. Making this shirt trendy is super easy with a nice pair of jeans, sandals or sneakers and cute accessories. This Fashionista paired her polo with a casual pair of skinny jeans. However, the top can definitely be worn with boyfriend, bootcut or even bell bottom jeans (if you’re feeling like That 70’s Show). She finished off her look with various accessories and a classic pair of Stan Smith sneakers. When class is a hike away, sneakers are totally the way to go.

Dressing preppy doesn’t always have to include a button-down and khakis, there are ways to make it appeal to any fashion sense. It can also give you serious motivation to get work done, which its why it is perfect to wear to class or to a study session at the library. Now that she looks the part, it is time to hit the books!

Style Guru Bio

My name is Staci and I am about to start my freshman year at Syracuse University. My planned major at this point is magazine journalism through the S.I Newhouse School of Public Communications. My all time goal is to be the next Anna Wintour (a girl can dream)!

I’ve had a love for fashion ever since I was a toddler trying on my older sisters heels and pretending I was a supermodel (once again, a girl can dream). I’ve always been fascinated by various designers’ silhouettes, coordination of outfits and ability to convey personality through clothing. I always get inspired by Teen Vogue, my monthly Bible, to give me the hottest tips on what’s trending on the runways.

Despite a full academic and extracurricular schedule, I still managed to prioritize my career in the fashion industry. I took steps to ensure that I took advantage of every fashion-related course available at my high school. This ranged from sewing to marketing to drawing. I was open to learning everything there was to know about the industry since there are so many aspects to the business. Inspired by two classic movies, 13 Going on 30 and The Devil Wears Prada, I realized I wanted to pursue a career in journalism after seeing the inner workings of a fashion publication. Although these movies showed me how competitive and ruthless the industry can be, I still fantasized about what it would be like to run my own magazine.

My love for fashion grew even stronger when I signed up to take pre-college courses at The Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City. There I enrolled to take fashion forecasting and fashion journalism. The pre-college program at FIT was an amazing experience. I got to learn what it was like to really be in the industry. We were able to hear from industry professionals as well.

Like almost every little girl, I always loved to play dress up. Putting pieces together gave me a sense of control and self-expression. I can honestly say that my wardrobe says a lot about my personality. I don’t like to put a label on my sense of style because it can vary from day to day. It usually depends on how I am feeling and how the weather is outside. However, if I had to choose I’d say I dress very girly. I would wear Chanel every day if I could. Their pieces tend to be feminine however, they are able to recreate iconic looks in new ways. My outfit today really showcases my personality. It is comfy and casual yet edgy and chic.

I hope that through this internship I continue to learn more about fashion and all that it has to offer! I can’t wait to spot all of the Fashionistas/os on my campus!
